George Toriello sent me this information on Robert E. Trinks  on July 28, 2019.
Robert E. Trinks was born in Allendale, New Jersey on August 25, 1917. George Toriello found a woman on Ancestry.com who replied to his inquiry and this is what she said:

Letter from the owner, Linda Tillinghast, of Trinks Family tree on Ancestry.com whose mother knew Bessie, younger sister of Robert:


“Hi, The Robert E Trinks on my tree would be the same person you are looking for information about. My mother was born In Allendale, and she was friends for many years with his younger sister, Bessie Trinks. (1921~2004) The Trinks family moved from Allendale to Hackensack when my Mom was still young, but she always kept in touch with Bessie until Bessie died. Bessie worked at the United Nations, was friends with the 1st President Bush from her years when he worked at the UN, was very involved politically, as was her brother in Hackensack. Their parents, Edward and Dorothy, were both born deaf mutes, but would communicate using sign language. My grandmother learned sign language from their parents.
There is a wildlife center in Wyckoff, NJ that for some reason I think I remember hearing Robert Trinks was somehow involved in getting established as a county park as well. It is called the James McFaul Wildlife Center. In case you haven't seen it, I attached the obituary of Robert Trinks that was in the Record newspaper from Hackensack to my tree. I do not know anything about his military history. His daughter must have lived in or around Hackensack, as she drove Bessie to my mother's house once or twice. Maybe you could locate her for more information. I will try and attach something about Robert and Bessie's parents as well.”

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs death records, Robert E. Trinks served in the Army Air Corps from December 7, 1942 till August 5, 1943.  Robert E. Trinks would have been 25 years old when he started his service in 1942.  George Toriello says it is hard to read the obituary, but it seems to say he trained bombardiers to drop bombs.
